MORE THAN JUST A MARTIAL ART
Jiu Jitsu gives kids a place to move, wrestle, learn, compete, solve problems, and challenge themselves.
At Primate, we teach kids real Jiu Jitsu in a structured environment where they can have fun while developing skills that carry over far beyond the mats.
CONFIDENCE
There’s something powerful about learning how to do something that once felt difficult.
Kids develop confidence by learning new skills, overcoming challenges, and seeing themselves improve through consistent effort.
REAL JIU JITSU
Your child won’t just be running through obstacle courses and playing games.
We teach real grappling skills including takedowns, controlling positions, escapes, submissions, and how to safely defend themselves.
Everything is taught progressively and appropriately for their age and experience.
FITNESS & COORDINATION
Jiu Jitsu gets kids moving.
They’ll run, wrestle, balance, fall, scramble, push, pull and learn how to better control their bodies—all while getting exercise without feeling like they’re doing a workout.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Jiu Jitsu is physical, but it’s also a puzzle.
Kids learn how to stay calm, recognize problems, try different solutions and make adjustments when something doesn’t work the first time.
DISCIPLINE & RESILIENCE
Not everything works on the first try.
Training teaches kids to listen, focus, work through frustration and keep trying when something is difficult.
A HEALTHY OUTLET
Some kids have energy.
Other kids appear to have been accidentally equipped with a small nuclear reactor.
Jiu Jitsu gives them somewhere productive to put it.
They get to wrestle, compete, move their bodies and challenge themselves in a safe and structured environment.

WHAT HAPPENS ON THE FIRST DAY?
Trying something new can be intimidating—especially when you’ve never done Jiu Jitsu before.
That’s why we make getting started simple.
1. COME MEET US
When you arrive, we’ll show you around, introduce your child to their coaches and help them get comfortable before class begins.
2. NO EXPERIENCE? PERFECT.
Most people who walk through our doors started with absolutely no idea what they were doing.
Your child doesn’t need to know Jiu Jitsu.
They don’t need to already be athletic.
And they don’t need to “get in shape” first.
That’s what training is for.
3. WE’LL TEACH THEM
Our coaches will walk them through the class and help them learn alongside the other students.
They’ll get to experience a real Primate class rather than standing on the sidelines watching.
4. SEE WHAT THEY THINK
Afterward, we’ll answer your questions and explain the options for continuing if your child wants to come back.
If they love it, awesome.
If Jiu Jitsu isn’t their thing, that’s okay too.
There’s no obligation to join.
TWO PROGRAMS. ONE GOAL: HELPING KIDS GROW.
We separate our younger and older students so we’re able to teach them in ways that make sense for their stage of development.
PLAY-JITSU | AGES 4–6
Our youngest students learn the building blocks of Jiu Jitsu through movement, games, wrestling and age-appropriate technique.
The goal isn’t to turn a five-year-old into a miniature professional fighter.
It’s to help them become comfortable using their bodies, listening to coaches, interacting with other kids, and developing the basic movements they’ll eventually use in Jiu Jitsu.
And most importantly:
They should look forward to coming to class.

KIDS JIU JITSU | AGES 7–12
As kids get older, the training becomes more technical and structured.
Students learn real Jiu Jitsu including:
Takedowns
Pins and controlling positions
Escapes
Submissions
Positional strategy
Live grappling
They’ll learn how techniques work, practice them against resistance and gradually develop the ability to actually use what they’ve learned.
We want our students to become capable, confident grapplers—not kids who simply memorize techniques.

WHAT IF MY CHILD IS SHY, NERVOUS OR NOT ATHLETIC?
That’s completely normal.
Your child doesn’t need to be naturally athletic, outgoing or aggressive to start Jiu Jitsu.
In fact, some of the kids who benefit most from training are the ones who are initially hesitant to participate.
We won’t expect your child to walk through the door on day one acting like they’ve been training their entire life.
They just need to walk through the door.
We’ll help with everything after that.
WHAT IF MY KID IS… A LOT?
We know that kid too.
The one who climbs everything.
Wrestles everybody.
Can’t sit still.
Has somehow turned the couch into a launching platform.
Jiu Jitsu gives energetic kids something they often desperately need:
A place where physical play is actually encouraged—but also structured.
They learn that there’s a time to wrestle, a time to listen, a time to compete and a time to control themselves.
Being energetic isn’t a bad thing.
We just give them somewhere useful to aim it.

WHY PRIMATE?
We believe kids are capable of learning real Jiu Jitsu.
Our job isn’t to make everything easy.
It’s to create an environment where kids feel comfortable trying difficult things.
They’ll succeed.
They’ll struggle.
They’ll learn techniques that work immediately and others that take time.
They’ll have rounds where everything goes their way and rounds where absolutely nothing does.
And they’ll learn to keep going.
That’s one of the things we love about Jiu Jitsu.
The confidence that comes from training isn’t something we have to tell a kid they have.
They earn it.
