PROGRAMS AND FACILITIES TO FIT YOUR FAMILY'S NEEDS
Welcome to Primate Jiu Jitsu
Primate Jiu Jitsu is a family-focused martial arts academy offering high-level training for kids, teens, and adults—from complete beginners to experienced athletes. Our goal is simple: help students build confidence, skill, and toughness in a positive, supportive environment.
Programs for Every Age
-
Ages 4–6 (Play-Jitsu)
Our youngest program uses games, movement, and structured fun to introduce Jiu Jitsu fundamentals. Classes are designed to build coordination, balance, listening skills, and confidence—without kids feeling like they’re in a “serious” class. -
Ages 7–12
Kids develop real grappling skills, self-defense awareness, and discipline while learning how to train with control and respect. This program helps channel energy in a constructive way and builds confidence that carries into everyday life. -
Teens & Adults
Beginner-friendly fundamentals through advanced training, with a curriculum designed to work for hobbyists, competitors, and parents training alongside their kids.
No experience required—just a willingness to learn and show up.
A Complete Grappling Curriculum
Our curriculum blends the most effective techniques and strategies from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, and Judo. Students learn how to control opponents in every phase of grappling—standing, takedowns, scrambles, top control, bottom positions, and submissions—so they’re competent and dangerous in all situations.
Safe, Clean, Spacious Training Environment
Primate Jiu Jitsu features 2,500 square feet of sprung mat space, designed to reduce impact and keep training safer for kids and adults alike. The academy is clean, organized, and intentionally designed for focused training—not overcrowded chaos.
Additional amenities include:
-
A dedicated exercise area
-
Two on-site showers
-
A strong emphasis on cleanliness and hygiene
Flexible Adult Training Options
We offer adult Jiu Jitsu classes three times per day to fit busy schedules:
-
6:00 AM
-
12:00 PM
-
5:15 PM & 6:15 PM
Our 5:15 PM fundamentals class allows parents to train Jiu Jitsu while their kids are on the mat next door, creating a shared experience without sacrificing family time.
Muay Thai Training
In addition to grappling, we offer Muay Thai classes five times per week. These sessions build striking fundamentals, conditioning, and mental toughness while complementing our grappling program.
A Culture Built on Growth
Our instructors are experienced, passionate, and committed to helping every student improve—regardless of age, fitness level, or background. You’ll train in a welcoming, no-ego environment where safety, learning, and long-term progress come first.
Whether you’re enrolling your child, training for yourself, or doing both—Primate Jiu Jitsu is built for families who want real skills and real growth.

TESTIMONIALS

I have been coming to Primate for about a 2 months now. As someone who is brand new to this sport I honestly don’t think I could have found a better place to start. Matt is a phenomenal coach who has a way of breaking down techniques and concepts that makes it easy to grasp. On top of that the atmosphere is amazing, everyone I have rolled with has been truly helpful, encouraging and concerned with my progress. It is this atmosphere from the coaching all the way down that keeps me coming back. This has been a fantastic experience and I can’t recommend it enough.

I wanted to do something like this for a while but was apprehensive due to being middle-aged, out of shape, and unathletic. Really glad I joined Primate BJJ. It’s helping me improve not just physically but as an overall person. Teaching is great and everyone is super encouraging and helpful. Challenging and satisfying at the same time. I’d encourage anyone to give Primate BJJ a shot.

Everyone at primate is welcoming, friendly, patient, and kind. They are willing to work with you, no matter your skill level. I am so glad I found them and broke out of my comfort zone. These people are awesome!

As an introvert I had hesitation on even coming in to inquire about joining. I am very glad I joined. This is a very friendly place. They are very patient and willing to work with your limitations. I joined weighing 278lbs (not being able to freely move) in August and now I’m down to 247ish (moving better). I largely credit that to my jiu-jitsu journey and the home I’ve found here at Primate.

Matt has a TON of great knowledge about BJJ and is an excellent coach. He knows how to teach people in a way that they can understand and apply new techniques. Even more important than that, he has built such a friendly and encouraging atmosphere at the gym that no matter what skill level you are or even if you’re just having an off day you can still come in and have a great time rolling with some awesome people.

I would love to wax eloquently, on how good the instruction is at Primate, and all the intrinsic/extrinsic benefits of training Jiu Jitsu. And while all these are certainly true, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the safe and positive atmosphere Matt promotes for his school and students. He’s a great leader, and moreover, this attitude of kindness and respect permeates down the ranks into each and every one of his students. Thanks Matt Vernon.

Being part of Primate Jiu Jitsu has brought me out of my comfort zone and has made me and my sons bond that much stronger being able to train together.
