Grappling Resources

After multiple requests, we have finally put together this resource for our students and community. These are popular grappling products that we and/or our students use and that are available for purchase through Amazon.

Mats

Many of our students build gyms in their spare bedrooms or garages to get extra training in at home. These Dollamur mats are essentially the same mats we use at the academy, but of course there are other brands that are also great. Just look for roll-up wrestling mats. One 5’x10′ mat is usually sufficient for drilling, but two is better if you want room to roll.

Mat Tape

Mat tape is a simple way to keep multiple mats from sliding apart. Other accessories to consider would be non-slip pads, mat cleaner, and a dust mop.

Grappling Dummy

A grappling dummy can make a great drilling partner when you want to drill but no one else is around. This is the model we recommend to our students. It comes in various weights and price points, but the 90lb weight is probably the most popular.

Antifungal Body Wash

We prefer to wash with Defense body wash after we train. This antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral rinse is a great way to ensure hygiene after sweating so much on the mats!

Cups

Whether or not our male students wear a cup is their personal preference. This Shock Doctor athletic cup is a popular model among our students who do wear one. Trusted and popular brands for jockstraps include Shock Doctor, Under Armour, and Diamond.

Mouth Guards

Mouth guards are also worn (or not) based on personal preference. This boil-to-fit Venum Challenger mouth guard is a popular model, but Shock Doctor also makes great mouth guards that many of our students wear.

Books

Books will always be great resources of education, and this includes for the grappling community! You’ll find well-articulated technical details, principles, concepts, and more in each of these books that we recommend.
